FYI, just so you know, this is just the first chapter, it actually gets interesting later on. whaddya guys think of this though?
Kally Everblood is a fifteen year old girl living in the year 2072. exactly 60 years after the Ultimate termination. She has survived as one of few young people left in her community and possibly even the world. She has lived her life consummed by death because her small town has not yet re invented any form of life saving technology. But as she grows older Kally begins to learn horrible secrets about her past and in doing so, she ventures into uncharted waters to ask questions that might just be the very thing keeping everything from falling apart.
Chapter 1:
Kally Everblood woke to find her little sister Shauny jumping on the foot of her bed. Kally wiped the sleep from her eyes and yawned "s'time to get up!" shauny yelled
"I know, I know.." Kally mummbled back. She swept her eyes across the room like she does every morning. To her right sat Shauny's bed covers strewn carlessly on the floor and her old ratty stuffed bear was upside down under her pillow. Next to her sister's bed was her parent's neatly made up matress and her dads silly old green pillow that mom absolutley hated but he refused to get rid of it, he said it had a story behind it and anything with a story behind it is a good enough reason to keep. the Large wardrobe that held all of her families linens was slightly ajar from the amount of unfolded clothes piled inside and the small table across from the wardrobe was cluttlered with small nic naks from dad's old "expiditions" he used to go on when he was younger. Kally's gaze stopped on the one small window, the tattered yellow curtain was pulled open enough that a small stream of sunlight shone in. Kally was in tranced in the dancing dust motes when she heard a scream from outside. Her sister stopped bouncing and stared at the wooden front door "kally?" she asked, her head cocked to the side. Kally got up and grabbed her big puffy coat "stay here" she said and slipped out the door. She breathed in the cool crisp spring air, tasting the saw dust from the anciet rusty mill a few miles off of the old sandborrow street sign. Kally looked around and noticed a small group gathering in the middle if town. she caught her friend Lorenth waving her over "hey Loo" she said, using his old child hood nickname "what's going on?" lorenth stared at Kally and shook his head "they got another one."
"another what?" kally asked Lorenth just looked at Kally with sad eyes. she gasped as the realization hit "oh my god, who was it?"
"The mayors son." Lorenth said evenly. A tear ran down Kally's cheak and Lorenth wrapped his arm around her akwardly. they stayed like that for a long time as the group began to fade away and reveal the body covered in a large scratchy looking blanket. "I have to go" Kally finally said "I left Shauny at home" Lorenth looked down at her, he was a good five inches taller then her short 5'5 height. "see you tomorrow" he nodded and gingerly stepped around the body. Kally watched him walk away for a few minutes then started home.
.....................................................................
Kally's parent arrived home almost instantly. "Hey mom, dad." she called.
"hey sweet heart" her father answered cheerfully
"hi.. honey" her mother mummbled, when Kally glanced at her mother she stifled a gasp. her usually perfect bun was torn out, and her short hair sat messily aroung her unusually dirty face. her eyes seemed sunken in and deep dark circles ran along the undersides of her eyes. Apart from her outer apearance she seemed to have a slightly glazed over look in her eyes.
"Hi mom."
"wheres your sister?" her father asked glancing around the small house
"she's at Hamlie's house."
"Alright, well I'm going to need you to go and get her in a few minutes then, we all need to sit down and have a family meeting." Kally nodded, grabbed her puffy coat, and headed out the door. Hamlies house was only a few minutes away and Kally would enjoy the walk. She was so absorbed in thoughts of what school was going to be like tomorrow with out chances, the mayors son, and about the odd call for a 'family meeting' that she walked right into someone.
"Oh, why hello there Kally." Kally looked up and blushed. it was here teacher Mr. Calith
"I'm so sorry..."
"It's not a problem, I know how absorbed you get when you think." he smiled.
"um. yeah. okay. well, I better get going. I gotta pick up Shauny from Hamlies house then have a family meeting" Kally groaned sarcastically
"alright, you get going then. don't want to be late for the folks" he smiled again then kept walking. Kally sighed as she watched him walk away "get a hold of yourself, Kally." she mummbled. Her old grade school crush would always spark in her teacher every now and then. A few minutes later she was at Hamlies house. Kally walked up to the thin wooden door and knocked
"oh hello, dear" Timith, Hamlies father greeted her warmly with a hug "how are we today?" Kally smiled "just as well as every other day, excpet for..."
"yes. very unfortunate, unfortunate indeed. I would assume your here to pick up Shauny and not just to see me?" Timith chuckled
"yeah, big family meeting with the folks." she said with a overly happy grin
"alright, well wait here a moment while I fetch Shauny" Timith left Kally at the door step without inviting her in. An odd thing for Timith, he's usually the friendliest person. "probably just a little upset about the mayors son..." Kally thought to herself
"Kally... Why do I have to leave so soon?" Shauny wasn't even out the door yet and she was already whining
"mom and dad wants to talk to us, so we better hurry." Kally waved to Timith and he smiled back "now come on." Kally said to Shauny, who followed reluctantly.
